What is Brazing?

The process of brazing allows two of the same types of metal or two different types of metal to be joined together by melting a braze alloy into the area to be joined. Because the brazing filler metal has a lower melting point than the metals it is joining, the metal bond formed during the brazing process is created without altering the base materials and the brazed joint is typically stronger than the base metals. The filler metal used in brazing is an alloy composed of various metals which are chosen based on the material being joined. Generally, brazing employs filler metal alloys which include aluminum, copper or silver.
